This book is a great book about birds and the different nests that they build. Mama Built a Little Nest has a variety of birds, and the different ways that mama and daddy birds build nests for their eggs. There is a very unique kind of nest towards the end that is interesting to see.
The illustrations in Mama Built a Little Nest are wonderful and really capture the story of the book. Steve Jenkins was really able to portray the different types of birds that we see in everyday life. He caught my eye in the drawings of the nests because he was able to show the different shapes and materials that the birds used to build the nests.
This book would best be used in a First or Second grade classroom. It could be used to teach about the different kinds of birds and how they lay their eggs. This book could also be used to talk about the different habitats that the birds in the book live in. I think that this book as a super cute way to inform children about birds.
