Just a Minute: A Trickster Tale and Counting Book, is a really cute story about a grandmother taking her sweet and precious time. Senor Calavera shows up at Grandma Beetle's house and suggests that she come with him right away. The grandmother says, "Just a minute!" It is neat to see the number of tasks that Grandma Beetle comes up with instead of going with Senor Calavera.
The illustrations from this book are a great way to see a different culture. The little grandmother is so cute and tiny, and it is obvious that she loves to take care of her family. The illustrator does a wonderful job of showing the different aspects of a Hispanic culture throughout the book.
This book could be used for grades Pre-K through Second grade. It is a great book to introduce diverse cultures to young children. This book could also be used to teach numbers to Spanish numbers to English speakers, and vise versa. It is important for children to understand that people come from all different cultures.
