How to Teach a Slug to Read is a really cute and fun book about reading. It gives a step-by-step process on how to read, and uses real strategies. It is super cool to see how teaching reading is broken down into simple terms in this book.
The illustrations are great in How to Teach a Slug to Read. They show the different color slugs in the grass learning how to read. Then it shifts to the other different bugs being taught by the slugs. It is humorous to me to see the Dr. Seuss books but in slug form in this story.
This would be a great book to use in First and Second grade. This book would be a great way to introduce and remind students to the different ways of beginning to read. I think that this book could also be used for teachers to introduce reading by using the different strategies throughout the book.
