Fancy Nancy: Poet Extraordinaire is a really cute book that is about a little girl named Fancy Nancy. Fancy Nancy's teacher, Ms. Glass, gives the class an assignment to write a poem. Nancy is determined to write a really great poem. Will she be able to come up with a good poem?
The illustrations are so bright and full of color. There are lines that make the pictures pop. Glasser does a wonderful job showing the details of the story.
This book could be used in a second or third grade classroom. I would read this book and get the students to write their own poems. I would let an ELL student write their poem in their native language. This is a great book to introduce poems to a child, the book is super fun.
